Originally part of the land inhabited by the coastal Eora Aboriginal people, the eastern Sydney suburb of Woollahra was named after the local word for the area which is thought to translate as 'the look-out' or 'camping ground'. Following settlement the land around Woollahra would be used for market gardens and dairy farms and today this mainly residential suburb is one of the wealthiest in Sydney.
