As the capital city of New South Wales, Sydney is considered one of the world's premier cities. Founded in 1788 as a penal colony, Sydney is the birthplace of modern Australia and is home to many places of considerable significance including Bennelong Point, the native fauna collection held in the Botanic Gardens and the historic communities such as The Rocks.

With its iconic harbour and Opera House, it is a city renowned for its beach culture, multicultural community and award winning restaurants. Its famously sunny climate makes it a favoured tourist destination.
