To PlacesOriginally home to the Cadigal clan of the Eora Aboriginal people, the Sydney suburb of Lakemba was named after the property owned by early land owner Ben Taylor following the opening of Lakemba Station in 1909. The suburb began as a mix of industrial land and residential development with a piggery, poultry farm and tannery the main employers in the suburb.
