The fertile land of the Kangaroo Valley is the traditional land of the Wodi-Wodi Aboriginal people who lived in the region for thousands of years before European settlement in the early 1800s. The densely forested area attracted cedar getters whilst the fertile grazing land saw dairy farms amongst the most successful early industries of the Kangaroo Valley. Built in 1898, the town's historic Hampton Bridge would open up the picturesque Valley town to visitors, and today has become one of Kangaroo Valley's key attractions.
