The significant lime deposits of the land around Kandos led to the town being established in 1913 by the New South Wales Cement Lime and Coal Company and the town name is actually an acronym of the initials of the company’s directors. Located just west of the Great Dividing Range and Wollemi National Park, tourism now compliments the regions long established industries with Kandos a popular base for visitors to the park.
