Ingleburn is one of the oldest settlements in the Campbelltown area with land grants dating back to the 1880s. Originally part of Macquarie Fields, Ingleburn was the name given to the new railway station and surrounding township in 1883. It is thought to be named after a local property called Ingleburn House, owned by Mary Ruse, daughter of local pioneer James Ruse.
