A locality situated near the NSW/Qld. border about 30 km west of Yantabulla. Boundaries within the Bourke Council area shown on map marked GNB3632.

Was names after Thomas Hungerford MLA member for Upper Hunter. He had vast pastoral interests in NSW and QLD, and during his journeys back and forth between his properties, he often camped at a spot on the Paroo River, which became known as Hungerfords Camp, and later as the town of Hungerford.
