Located in the states mid west, Gulgong started as a gold rush town following the discovery of gold in the 1860s. Gulgong is perhaps best known today as the birthplace if notorious bushranger Jimmy Governor as well as being the home to Henry Lawson's family for a time in the 1870s and the town appeared behind Lawson when he appeared on the $10 note.
