Located in the Hunter Valley, the small town of Greta would be established following a number of cattle drivers establishing pastoral runs near Anvil Creek in the 1830s. One of Australia's largest migrant centres was built on the outskirts of Greta in 1939 and housed over 100 000 migrants before the facility was closed in the 1960s.
