Located on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Fingal Bay was first settled in the mid 1800s by fishing communities. The small island outcrop attached to Fingal Bay by a sandbar was chosen as the best location for the Port Stephens Lighthouse which was constructed in 1862 and remains the defining feature of the shoreline today. The small village of Fingal Bay is now incorporated into the Tomaree National Park and its excellent fishing spots, pristine beach and bushland have seen the area become a popular holiday destination.
