You are in: Cremorne
To PlacesLocated on Sydney's lower north shore, Cremorne takes its name from Cremorne Gardens in England, which derives from Gaelic words meaning 'boundary' and 'chieftain'. With the commencement of a ferry service from Circular Quay to Cremorne Wharf in 1890, the isolated coastal fronted suburb became more popular with day-trippers. The opening of the Harbour Bridge in 1939 and the post war housing development boom would see Cremorne become one of the most popular residential suburbs north of the bridge.
