In September 1996 Geraldine Triffard of AIATSIS was contacted to ascertain the origin and meaning. The Muswellbrook area is a meeting place for many languages and it is hard to tell. Probably means wind or hot wind. Other Aboriginal words close to this are Burrumi and Booromi.
