Back To HomeThe NSW economy continues to grow, though at a slower rate than the nation as a whole, and is recognised as a leading contributor to the national economy in Australia. The state is rich in raw materials, supporting a large timber and coal mining industry but it is also a key player in the information technology, communications, finance, manufacturing, sporting, and film and television industries. With a range of distinguished universities and other education providers, the education sector attracts a high proportion of international students, and provides skilled graduates ready to enter the local workforce in professional occupations. In addition, more than 65% of all Asia Pacific regional headquarters located in Australia are based in NSW, with more than 600 companies recognising the state as the centre of Australian business.
