David Gordon Kirkpatrick, better known as Slim Dusty, was one of New South Wales most treasured country music singers. A prolific songwriter, he recorded a staggering 105 albums before his death in 2003 with such memorable titles as 'Beer Drinking Songs of Australia' and 'G'day G'day' but he was best known for his ballad 'The Pub With No Beer'. Dusty won 37 Golden Guitar awards, two ARIAS, was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1970 and was voted a National Living Treasure in 1998. He was the first Australian to hold an international hit record.
