The Silky Heads Grass or Cymbopogon is one of the most common native grasses in New South Wales with widespread growth around waterways. Belonging to the same family as Lemongrass, this aromatic grass was once used as a treatment for all number of ailments with uses as diverse as a drink to relieve colds and coughs to an antiseptic for cuts and sores. Today its uses are more ornamental, becoming a favourite amongst urban bush gardens.
