Native Violet

Named after Australia's first Botanist Joseph Banks, Viola banksii - commonly referred to as the Native Violet - can be found growing wild along the New South Wales coast, prefering swampy conditions. It shares a lot of physical characteristics with the common European Violet but, unlike its northern hemisphere cousin, it is not scented and is instead simply a pretty ornamental flowering ground cover.
