Kangaroo
To AnimalsThe Kangaroo is the defining animal symbol of Australia. From its use in the national Coat of Arms to the 'boxing' Kangaroo tourism campaigns, it has become symbolic of something quintessentially Australian. There are approximately 60 species of Kangaroo in Australia, and the most widely distributed in New South Wales are the Red Kangaroo or 'Big Red' and the Eastern Grey Kangaroo. These herbivorous and mainly nocturnal mammals have more recently been used in local and export markets for their meat and skins.
