To EconomyAs the second largest industry in NSW, manufacturing accounts for approximately a quarter of the State's total exports contributing up to $31 billion to the NSW economy each year. Manufacturing companies are fundamental to several keystone local industries including automotive, defence and aerospace, agriculture and information technology. The strength of the industry is based on creative development with research bodies such as the CSIRO, which is fundamental to continuing innovation within local manufacturing techniques and practices.
Leading NSW manufacturing companies include Boeing, an Aerospace manufacturing company, the leading biomedical manufacturer Cochlear and automotive manufacturers Broens Industries. All of these industries service Australian industry as well as exporting to the industry's key international partners.
