With Fox Studios, the largest film studio in the southern hemisphere, located in Sydney, it is hardly surprising that 50% of the film industry of Australia are employed within New South Wales. Excelling in post production, the wealth of creative talent and the infrastructure to support it has had international companies choose to use the local industry to complete major productions with some notable blockbusters including Wolverine, Star Wars II and The Matrix.
In particular, the variety of distinct and easily accessible landscapes in New South Wales have made the State particularly appealing to film and television production companies. With a buzzing metropolis in Sydney city, a range of beaches and the contrasting arid and fertile farming land, New South Wales is able to offer unprecedented visual diversity.
The Australian Film and Television Office is a Sydney based State Government funded institution who offer support and monetary subsidies towards home grown productions and traineeships furthering the State's stronghold on the industry.
