As Australia's first Prime Minister, Edmund Barton was a key figure in the Federation of Australia, leading the process into its fruition in 1901. Renowned for his even temperament and commanding vocal delivery, Barton retired from politics to found the Australian High Court in 1903. His influence on the constitutional backbone of Australia as we now know it is unending.
