Dingos are a native carnivorous marsupial found throughout western New South Wales. Thought to have been introduced by Asian seafarers over 3500 years ago, the Dingo population is said to have spread quickly and the animals were soon found living all throughout the Australian continent. As their introduction coincided with the mainland extinction of the Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger, it is widely believed that they were directly responsible for their depletion, however this remains a theory. With their somewhat aggressive temperament, the Dingo was long believed to have been responsible for stealing Lindy Chamberlain's infant daughter Azaria in the now infamous Australian case.
