Bilby
To AnimalsThe Bilby is the largest member of the Bandicoot family and is native to the arid desert plains of western New South Wales. In the 1980s studies had shown the Bilby population was nearing exctinction partly based on depletion of the natural environment and also due to the introduction of foreign pests such as the rabbit. One of the projects which came from this was the Easter Bilby - a chocolate native alternative to the traditional rabbit, sales of which would help fund projects to save the Bilby. We celebrate national Bilby day on September 10th.
