Rock music archive
The archive has the potential to communicate in exhibitions and publications about rock music in Sydney. It documents the experiences of a rock music fan attending performances spanning 1966 to 1985, although most date from the 1970s, particularly the late 70s new wave period, when he liked to watch gigs by bands like Radio Birdman, the Hellcats and the Lipstick Killers. This was a period when pub rock flourished at the many live venues that Sydney had to offer. In the late 1970s, there was music in pubs on practically every inner-city corner and in beer barns in many suburbs.
There are also tickets and programs purchased at performances by overseas rock performers touring Australia. These document tours by artists including Bruce Springsteen and Lou Reed.
