Hot Wheels racing car set
This racing car set comes from a group of twelve items donated by Michael Henry. It is well-provenanced, having been received by the donor as a Christmas present and used by the Henry family.
It includes it original packaging. It can be used to illustrate themes relating to children, domestic life and the family. It is also relevant the marketing of products to children, and the importance of transport themes in children's toys.
The plastic wheels on 'Hot Wheels' diecast toy cars allowed them to move swiftly along a plastic track. The makers of Matchbox toys responded with a similar product with 'Superfast' wheels. While the Museum's collection includes a number of 'Superfast' racing sets from Matchbox toys, there are no 'Hot Wheels' toys in the collection.
