Batik coffin cover with stylised Islamic calligraphy design
A predominant motif on the coffin cloth is calligraphy in the form of birds arranged around lozenges. According to Michael Rogers, Honorary Curator of the Nasser D. Khalili Collection, stylised Quranic inscriptions that read 'There is no God but God' appear on the edge of the cloth, to form a border.
